You may remember my confession of love for JMA a while back. Their Vitamin B3 Serum and Lip balm still maintain a daily spot in my ever changing beauty regimen. The lip balm…well it happens to be a very favorite of mine. And the B3 Serum keeps my skin even, breakout free, and smooth. Today I am sharing two more products from JMA. Plus check out my interview with the founders of JMA, Jenny and Josette.
The Vitmin C Serum
JMA’s Vitamin C Serum is somewhat similar to my DIY Vitamin C Spray, but JMA takes it a few steps further and adds extra skin loving ingredients to really take it to the next level. Vitamin C is of course the star here. It's great at preventing and reversing sun damage as it is a powerful antioxidant. It also helps fade discoloration and even skin tone. Since I have been using the Vitamin C Serum I have noticed dark pigmented spots are less noticeable, although not completely gone. Also, fine lines are lessened and my skin plumper.
This serum comes in an indigo blue glass bottle and a stopper that allows for one drop at a time to dispense. This makes it easy to control the amount you use, typically for me 3-4 drops. The serum is clear and thin. With a subtle orange scent and gives a mild sting when applied.
It does leave the skin slightly tacky so I only use it in the evening. I apply it all over my freshing washed face and neck but am mindful to concentrate it around my mouth and orbital bones, as it really makes a difference there. JMAs Vitamin C Serum quickly absorbs and offers more hydration than I expected allowing me to sometimes pass on a moisturizer. It does also pair well with a serum after it’s absorbed.
A caveat with any vitamin C serum is that vitamin C is quite unstable and oxidizes quickly. If you ever notice a discoloration to any vitamin C serum, changing from clear to orange, to brown stop using it. It is actually bad for your skin once it's oxidized. Thankfully, Josette, has let me in on a little secret. Keep the serum in the fridge and decant a small amount into a separate bottle that you use daily. For me this little trick has allowed the serum to last for over a month without oxidizing...very impressive.
Back to the formula, it contains vitamin C powder, organic cold pressed vegetable glycerin, organic cold pressed orange essential oil, organic cold pressed argan oil, and brewed organic green tea. These combine to form an antioxidant powerhouse which lightly moisturizes, soothes, and tames the skin.
The vitamin C concentration in this serum is 20% which is the potency that many studies are conducted at. At this concentration collagen production is increased, skin is plumped, and discolorations fade. For more info on topical vitamin C and the actual studies done on it check out this post.
Overall JMA’s Vitamin C Serum is a great way to reduce sun damage and even skin tone. It is perfect for mid 20’s skin and up. Please make sure to use sunscreen in the day when you use this product, otherwise all your hard work will be in vain (check out JMAs Z-cote sunscreen here). I have always loved Vitamin C for topical use now there is an effective formula for those who prefer ready made.
This golden balm is packed with ultra hydrating nutrients to soothe and moisturize mature, overworked, and dry skin. Just a little dab 'ill do 'ya.
Deep Moisture can be use on the face and body and makes a great spot application for dry patches and scrapes. Containing organic cold pressed rose hip seed oil, organic cold pressed jojoba oil, organic cold pressed argan oil, virgin coconut oil, organic beeswax, and pure lanolin it is formulated to provide…deep moisture.
Rosehip seed oil is known for its potent anti aging properties because it is extremely high in essential fatty acids. It penetrates skin almost instantly and reduces scaring and stretch marks. Jojoba oil is another dry wax that balances sebum and oil. Argan oil is great for any skin type containing a stellar nutrient profile of tocopherols, phenols, carotenes, squaline and fatty acids. Which combat aging, acne, and sun damage. Coconut oil is known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Lastly, lanolin and beeswax creates a moisture seal for the other ingredients. They essentially lock in moisture to the skin while still allowing it to breathe.
For my face this balm isn’t appropriate because I have a normal skin type and am sensitive to coconut oil on my face. However, I love it for my body. It heals up any scrapes, cuts, and overly worked skin in no time. With just one application to dry hands my skin is rejuvenated and happy.
Another great use is for stretch marks. I have a few small stretch marks that are a year and a half old. I applied Deep Moisture to the marks every night and in about two weeks they were noticeably lighter. Plus they did’t appear as deep. Find deep moisture here.
